I'm not sure if this is local or not, it's certainly not my DNS as I've changed it to google and open but still the same issue. (Tried on a different computer, flushed DNS and so on.)

A lot of sites are timing out:

www.alliedmods.net
www.hidemyass.com
www.wifi-doc.com
www.notalent.org

just to name a few, anyone else having this issue?

.Griff.

I was just going to post, I've got the same problems, seems mainly American .com sites.

I'm on IDnet DNS.

Ray

Yes, I've just discovered I've got the same problem, seems to be US hosted sites that I'm finding affected.

Lots of UK hosted sites affected for me.

I was just looking on these forums for exactly this reason.

I'm assuming it's a problem at IDnet itself? I've tried two different DNS settings too; IDnet and Open DNS.

I can't access www.facebook.com www.redbubble.com www.plus.google.com http://niallallen.deviantart.com/ is loading EXTREMELY slowly. My router logs are showing errors in received info, although I'm not sure what the errors mean as I've not seen them before, plus the auto time setting is picking up the wrong time (it's saying it's midnight). Actually, as I typed that, the router has picked up that it's 4pm, when it's obviously 5.

Something somewhere has definitely broken.

{edit} I've just noticed that the router is picking up the DNS as 8.8.8.8? What's that about?

Same problem for me - and also confirmed it is not a DNS problem. Access fails even when using the IP address (obtained from isthatsitedown).

sof2er

Most certainly is IDNet related and not local.

Uh-oh spaghetti-o's!

Usually when this happens it means there has been an big outage somewhere, I guess we can look forward to several hours of 404's  :(

On the bright side, this site works.  :)

I'll slant off and continue eating painkillers and feeling sorry for myself, after yesterdays immense drinking session ;D

Just registered to post something like this and I got beaten to it. I suppose this is karma after I praised IDnet to all my friends for not having a single problem in about 3 years XD.

Can you believe it. I have been watching Fishomania for 5 hours and it went of with 2mins to go.  :bawl:

Hi and welcome to the forum. :welc: :karma:

My gut instinct is that it's a LONAP or LINX routing failure. I've alerted Simon Davies, the MD, and if I'm right, he will route around the problem area till the fault is resolved.

Simon_idnet

Looks like another problem at LINX. We've shut our connection to LINX for the time being and traffic appears to be routing well via alternate paths. No news from LINX themselves as yet.

Aradin

And this is why I love IDnet. Rarely anything happens but when something does crop up, it's sorted in no time. Also, hello and thanks for the karma!  :thumb:

Bloody heparin does sting and it's only a very fine needle, I used to hate when I was in with a back problem.

When something like this happens it's easy to tell if it's a widespread problem or just something local to you... all you have to do is look at the bottom of the IDNetters front page and see how many users are online ;D

I've had heparin a couple of times but don't remember any problems... except for one occasion.

I'd had an angioplasty and a stent implant, and complications meant I was on a heparin drip for a while afterwards. They used some pressure gadget where the catheter had gone in to limit blood loss through the hole in the femoral artery, but even the nurses were impressed with the size of the haematoma- it was more than 6" across :eek4:

Took weeks to disappear...

I take it this is IDnet pointing to a bakup DNS when they have issues then? I had it set to auto so it would get it directly from the ISP. Most odd.

So why did my router pick up that DNS server when I didn't input it then? Do Billion 7800N's have redundancy IPs built in?

Looks like LINX may have fixed whatever issue was occurring.

No issues routing packets via either the Brocade 195.66.224.xx or Extreme Networks 195.66.226.xx peering LANs from here at least.

It's a system default setting which I think is new with firmware 1.06d firmware, the release note is not available on the UK site but the aussie one is here

Just re-booted and things seem OK at the mo. NB: Not the 1st time over the last week I've had to do a reboot due to web sites not loading.

pctech

Not sure what router you are using but had a problem a couple of years back with a Netgear that was blocking random sites.

The ISP I was with at the time did numerous checks including logging in with my ADSL access credentials from a test router/line they had but could not replicate the fault.

In the end I used the factory reset button on the back, it cleared everything, rebooted and I put the ADSL details back in and it fixed it.

sobranie

Thanks for that. I am using a dg834V4 at the mo.  I have a V5 spare but am loath to use it due to the poor chipset. Will try zeroing the router next time I have probs.
Also have a 2700 floating somewhere in the gash pile but seem to recollect that I dropped it some while back and it developed a fault tho. I'm damned if I can remember what the fault was.
Anyway, plenty to play with over the coming days.

pctech

Same as me, the router I was using at the time by the way was a DG834N v1.

Might be worth giving the reset a shot though.
