The IP address of members is recorded with every post they make for legal reasons.

Forum staff will sometimes use these as an anonymous token to identify a connection to IDNet. We do this when a member is experiencing difficulties and we need to clarify an issue, or where we feel that by knowing a bit more about what has already happened, we might be able to give more targeted advice.

The IP address contains no personal information, and in passing it to IDNet, we receive no personal information in return. In other words, we learn nothing about the member concerned beyond the technical details of their problem.

If you do not wish us to use this method to try and assist, please make it clear when posting a request for help. Obviously, though, this will limit the amount of advice we can offer.
