That'll be me, I'm usually around most of the night It's no consolation I know but I can sympathise with stomach problems. I'm about to go under the knife to have my gallbladder removed, it took years to arrive at this point and finally get it diagnosed. I've been on a diet of boiled rice and strangely coloured gravy for longer than I care to remember while watching the rest of the Netters talking about feasts fit for a king Sorry, Zap, hopefully that's all about to change.

If I'd listen to the doctors, I could live to be 100 - a long, miserable, boring life!
Or I can enjoy it while I'm here. IMO - a short and happy one is the better option.
I agree. The old 'you may not live longer but it will feel like it' syndrome.

I have a friend who works for a company that run a number of rest homes, when he started there it depressed him to see that the homes are generally at least 95% female residents and in some cases 100%, then he realised that in many cases they are woken, washed, dressed, put in a chair, taken to a lounge, fed, taken to the toilet, cleaned up, sat in front of the TV and so on. He's now very much a member of the "enjoy life, you might not be here tomorrow" club. As he said to me once "You can take that last 20 years and stuff them where the sun doesn't shine, it's about quality of life, not just length of life"

This topic has went round the houses a bit. From a hello to a steak dinner to live life to the full whilst you can, which i have to say I fully agree with. I am only a youngster at 28 but have seen a lot of family pass away at an early age so I am definately in the do as much as you can when you can and never pass up and opportunity when it arrises.

I agree, SB. We're a kind of progressive forum, we progress to food, then the quality of life, next we'll get on to the meaning of life.

Just thought I would post an update on my actual connection. Was activated last night currently using an old speedtouch 510 router which I will be swapping out later today currrent stats looking like Was hoping for a little bit higher synch rate but least i am getting speeds of around 6-7mb which is very nice. Connection seems stable enough from what i have seen so far a definate improvement on o2 access... altho i could have possibly improved that by using a 2 cans and a bit of string.

You've got interleaving turned on by the looks of those stats.

Which means you're going pretty much as fast as you can. Ask support to have the interleaving turned off after the 10 day training period.

So been a 3 weeks connected and have to say really happy with the connection. Getting pretty much 6mb download constantly which is great and not had any problems at all. Just wondering if you guys thought I am getting the max i could possibly get out my line or if there are room for improvment.

You're not going to get any better than that on adslmax. Next step is adsl2+ or FTTC/P when it arrives at your local exchange

You are, look at the upstream speed. I think you may have to turn your AV software off during speedtests, your throughput is higher than your profile.

I suppose that now makes sense must look closer next time I saw G.DMT and I always associate it with adsl but with the upstream and the home plus package it has to be adsl2+
