I am running the free version of AVG 8 and over the past two days I've been getting an error message when trying to update it. The error message says The connection with the server has failed.
Others don't seem to be having this problem and I'm at a bit of a loss as to what might be causing it. This issue has occurred while connecting through two different routers, and another machine on the same network is able to update. Although the other machine did bring up the error message one or twice before it worked, and I believe it was a slightly newer version of AVG installed in the first place.
I had a blip this morning, used manual update and it sorted itself out. ;)
I seem to haver missed some posts on this thread that might explain things.

There have been a few reports of this in the forum, Dan, one of which was by you. ;)

I only read the replies saying no one else seemed to be having any problems, I just noticed the new posts .
So it's probably just an issue with the AVG servers then?
Seems so, it will no doubt get sorted within the day, they always have in the past. :thumb:
I wonder why it is affecting some people and not others.
After a few manual attempts it worked for me.
It might just be the server state at the time at which you hit it, Dan. ISTR something similar happened with NOD recently.
Not sure, I am using XP, I havn't bothered with my Vista Machine, I couldn't really care less if it gets a virus, it may speed it up. ;)
You could always go Linux, In. ;D :out:

;D Well it cannot slow it down any more, that's for certain. ;)
