Title: Microsoft versus IDNet..
Post by: Inactive on Aug 17, 2008, 10:07:42
Why does mail from IDNet show up as " suspicious sender " in my Windows Live Mail, even after I click on " allow sender " it still shoes the same? ???

Absolutely no idea, tbh, In. Can you mark it as a trusted source?

Just from a quick Google "This looks like another example of Hotmail and WLMail not agreeing
on who the 'sender' is, and it's probably something we'll have to
live with until they get it sorted out. Could you post the headers
of the message in a reply here? To do that, select it in the Message
list and press Ctrl-F3. Highlight everything down to the first blank
line, then copy and paste it into your reply. It would be best to x
out the first part of any email addresses that appear. This might
give some indication of why this is happening.

I don't think the settings you altered will affect messages already
received; they're checks that take place as a message arrives" So sounds like a bug. In

Might be worth checking with support then, Bob.

I am just going to wait and see what happens next time, it isn't worth bothering support at this stage. ;)

I agree, it's no big deal, I get updates via an RS feed every day and the Email only serves as a confirmation I can still read it, it just means one extra mouse click and I could do with the exercise.

Do IDnet have SPF records setup for the email accounts?

which if im not mistaken would cause the mail to be marked as suspisus/spam

This is probably one for IDNet, and may well explain why this is happening.

We do indeed have SPF records set for all our MTAs.

Hi,

I think the following may be related but if it's not please will a mod spin this off into a new thread?

My partner is having terrible trouble emailing one of her friends who has a BT BB account with BY-Yahoo email. We have our own domains so the "from" and "reply to" addresses are not IDNet ones we we only use IDNet servers for outgoing SMTP. At least half the messages she sends to her friend result in delayed delivery notifications and many of the emails simply don't arrive. I'm not sure if she was emailing this friend before we joined IDNet or not but she never complained when we were with VM (where is the spit smiley when you need one?)

Is there anything we can do about this please?

Thanks,
Paul.

I would have a word with IDNet, Paul, as they're the ones that would know the answer to this. :)
