Title: Micro Filter Placement
Post by: net91 on Jul 27, 2008, 10:39:44
I've always thought that I've had my adsl microfilters in the correct places, but I've recently read some things that have made me wonder.

From my BT socket (where the phoneline enters the house) I have a socket doubler (http://www.shop.bt.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4KQT&SearchType=1&SearchTerms=socket+doubler&PageMode=3&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=0), and then a microfilter (http://www.shop.bt.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4D46&SearchType=1&SearchTerms=micro+filter&PageMode=3&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=0) in each port of this. In one microfilter (http://www.shop.bt.com/productview.aspx?Quicklinx=4D46&SearchType=1&SearchTerms=micro+filter&PageMode=3&SearchKey=All&SearchMode=All&NavigationKey=0) I have my phone and router connected and the other my Tivo connected.

Anyway does this sound correct?
Thanks for any replies, Dan.

You could put one filter before the doubler for the same effect, Dan. The router would plug into that and all the phone side would be filtered.

That's what I was thinking, thanks Rik.

Yep, as Rik says, you can use one microfilter and place the doubler into it. :)
