Hi all,
Over the last 4 days my ADSL MAX connection speeds have been very low.
I have been testing my speed at - www.speedtest.bbmax.co.uk/
My speed use to vary from 900 kbps(peak time) to 4100 kbps(after midnight)
But now I am getting a very low speedtest result of 281 kbps
Why is this ? I have not changed anything. Is this a problem at the BT end ??
I have included screenshots of the results for you to look over -

Do these seem ok ??
Look forward to reading all your responses

Thats blown my theory :D
Try this - http://www.l8nc.com/
Have you tried the BT Speedtest?
http://speedtester.bt.com/
You need to enter username@uk.idnert.dsl4. This will show you what BT has set your profile as, and the actual speed through the BT network. It is often busy and you need extreme patience though - it can take several minutes before the next screen appears.
Your figures show that your line has a fairly high attenuation, and you are doing very well holding a 6db Signal Noise Margin - which accounts for the reasonable sync rate of 5148.
good luck!
Thanks for all the replies !!

Hello again
It seems as if you may have had a series of loss of sync recently which has knocked your Stable Rate down to rock bottom! Hopefully, so long as you continue to hold the current sync speed of 5148, your Stable rate will increase automatically within the next 3 days..... If not I would recommend speaking to Support!
Out of interest - which router do you use?
Thanks for the reply, hopefully all will be ok in a few days ???
the router is a NETGEAR DG834G firmware - v2.10.22

Yes - hopefully all will be well, but I suggest that you don't reboot the router more than you have to or else it may be detected by BT as a fault condition and keep your profile / Stable Rate down. Until recently I used the same Netgear router but it does seem to have a known problem - you may wish to read this thread :
http://usergroup.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,3550.0.html
I recently switched over to a BT Voyager 2110 which now holds my sync like a limpet with very little drop in Signal Noise Margin - unlike the Netgear which on occasions had multiple drops into the 0db area, and then frequently failed to regain the original level. It appears to be a firmware bug?? The free software RouterStats
http://vwlowen.co.uk/internet/files.htm
is great for monitoring the Netgear - it comes ready configured for your router and is effectively "Plug & Play"!
Thanks again for the help.
just downloaded and installed `routerstats` to see how my not so good netgear is working !!!

Might be worth updating your firmware from here (http://kbserver.netgear.com/products/dg834v2.asp).
