You'd have thought that the vendor offering to travel to London from Italy might have triggered an alarm or two, wouldn't you. :(

Nor me. All of these scams come about, imo, by people's greed. A price which looks to good to be true invariably is. :(

Very true Rik, and as long as people still are greedy, they will fall prey to these scams, even though to most people its plain obvious :sigh:

BTW I heard yesterday from a friend about a friend of hers who has recently discovered that over £2,000 had been taken from her bank account via a copy of her Debit card. Unfortunately she wasn't usually in the habit of checking her bank account so the amounts had built up, it was only discovered by chance. The bank say that they know who the person is by their purchases and are prosecuting. She doesn't know where her card was copied, she's over 80 and relies on her two children to do her shopping.

This is an area where those not online are so vulnerable, Noreen. Sue's mother is the same, she lets large amounts accumulate in her current account, so if her card was ever cloned, the thieves could have a field day before she noticed anything amiss. :(
