Title: Just a quick question about "undelivered mail" notification
Post by: aeuerby on Jul 08, 2008, 12:15:32
Over the past 6 hours or so one of our email addresses has had over 250 of these "undelivered mail" notifications.
Trouble is I haven't sent any mail from that account and the "from" address isn't ours.
So a bit of a thickie question.
Is this to do with the spam attack or has that email been hacked or something?
Thanks in advance.

You really need to give support a call on this one I'm afraid.

Some spamming parasite has probably got hold of your email address and used it as a return address on an email run. It saves them money as all bounced email goes to someone who has nothing to do with it and they don't have to pay for the bandwidth and stops their addresses getting used for spam filters.

Cheers,
Paul.

Yep, as Paul says, that's probably what it is, though it does seem a bit of a coincidence. Let us know what support say. :)
