Hi Netters....
Can anyone advise me of anything I can do try and improve my speeds today...
This is a speedtest I have just done on speedtest.net and a bt speedtest.net was almost the same. I have attached the test and router stats. My router is plugged in to an engineer install v1 adsl filtered face

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 7296 kbps 832 kbps
Line Attenuation 44.0 db 23.5 db
Noise Margin 7.3 db 9.0 db
Any help would be great...
Hi, I'm not the one to ask, but I expect someone will be along to help you soon. Have you seen any BT vans in the area today?
No although I was in front of my computer all day trying to get an iphone :bawl:
It could be BT work, or it could be worth giving IDNet a call in the morning. Hold on for Rik or one of the other techies to get here, as they may have some other ideas.
Could you run a BT speed test (http://www.speedtester.bt.com) and post the results? You might need to persevere as it's notoriously unreliable!
First, I think it's important that we establish whether this is a profile issue or something else.
:iagree:
My BT Speed test showed..
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
Your DSL connection rate: 7296 kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 832 kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP profile for your line is - 6000 kbps
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 3103 kbps
And my router stats are

Noise Margin 9.4 db 9.0 db

The throughput at 3103 is low for a 6000 profile. What MTU setting are you using in the router and Windows, what RWIN in Windows?
It could be that your exchange is congested, so worth checking here:
http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/
The profile is fine, so it's a throughput issue. As Rik says, it could be MTU, or exchange issues. As well as it being congested, there could be 21CN work going on there (the link that Rik has posted should also contain the date of when your exchange is switching over). :)
