Just sorted out a simultaneous transfer for broadband (IDNet) and phone (BT) to a new address, and been told by IDNet that there's a £47 activation fee for this. This is news to me; I've previously changed address with IDNet (just over a a year ago) and had no such fee levied at the time. Is this a mistake, a new policy, or something else entirely? Comments?
It's no mistake. As far as BT are concerned it's a new line and a new connection, so they charge the fee. There's every possibility that they will want £125 to connect the phone line. Incidentally, just changing the name on the bill will have the same effect.
No, they've already confirmed the phone line is already live, so no phone connection charge will be levied. I guess I was just surprised by the activation fee because I wasn't charged last time and I've been a customer for several years now, but obviously this is the way things are. Evil BTW.
Thanks for the reply. ;)
Sadly, BT now charge if you need to sneeze. :(
£169 for sneezing... How much is it if you fart out of tune?
:fart:
(sorry... had to find an excuse to use that smiley)
I knew it was inviting trouble. ;D
As Rik says, it's no mistake. Despite the simultaneous provide, it's still classed as a new connection by BT. :(
