Hi all,
With people trying out the new SingTel firmware, I was wondering if this firmware enabled multicast? I'm pretty sure that the router supports it, but in the BT firmware it has to be enabled using the remote management (ie at BT's end).
Thanks

What port does it use ?
I'm not sure, but I know the router has to have IGMP enabled. If I go to http://home/tech I can see that on my BT firmware, it is disabled.
The default settings for IGMP on the Singtel firmware are:-
IGMP Proxy: Disabled
IGMP Querier: Disabled
IGMP Snooping: Enabled
No idea if that helps, or not
Same as on the BT v4 firmware, then. Thanks for looking!
And the SBC, iirc.
The BT v5 firmware just shows a "-" against Snooping. Other two are diabled.
I had a quick Google and it seems that no one knows how to enable IGMP. :(
It's odd that, isn't it. There are so many layers to this router, it would be great to get hands on the ISP's manual for it.
It certainly would, Rik. :)
It would be even better to get hold of the remote management software!

Nooby question: What does enabling IGMP Snooping enable you to do? IIRC it's disabled in my router (a DLink).

It's too technical for me, but maybe this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IGMP_snooping) helps? :)
The basics Mo are that the BBC are trialing (and have been for some time) multicast content. The benefits of multicast over the video and radio content they have now is that it is of a higher quality. IGMP is what your router has to support and have enabled to be able to deal with this multicast content, as well as your isp being peered with the BBC. I've noticed that Virgin radio is also available in multicast.

Thanks Lance, I knew it was concerned with Multicast, but what I still can't decide, is enabling 'Snooping' all you have to do to allow you to watch multicast?? :-\

I'm not sure to be honest, Mo. On my old Linksys I just had 'Enable IGMP'. The best and easiest way to find out would be to enable it and then go to www.bbc.co.uk/multicast and seeing if you can listen to any off the radio stations :)
There's certainly not an obvious option on the 2700. It's probably hidden away like most things.
