It may do parts of C automatically, Baz, to take account of cookies etc.

I use it but I always let it scan the whole computer either a Quick or Deep scan. I presume that you have looked through the Help section. It does take quite a time to do a scan.

There is a forum here if that's of any help. http://forums.superantispyware.com/viewforum.php?f=2

I used to have it, but haven't got it on my new PC.  Umm.... I'm sure you can set it to scan specific targets or drives, but you might just as well do a complete scan, Baz, then you can be sure nothing's hiding away.

There is an option to scan individual drives but having just tried it, it does appear to scan drive C first even though that wasn't specified. As I said, I always do a complete scan even though it does take time.

Thats what I tried Noreen, selected another drive as had already done drive 'C'. as you say it didnt do the selected drive just 'c' again

I installed it but everytime I open my PC it wants to install itself again.  I think I'm going to get rid. :-\

That should not be, what version are you running? I can get mine to scan my D driver for instance by defining a custom scan. Its a pretty good piece of antispyware to be honest, may be worth uninstalling and reinstalling, it does uninstall quite cleanly, I only run it once or twice a month as Kaspersky takes care of the rest for me really. Oh just to pint out you can only do custom scans on the paid for version

I'm going put on avg version 8 which is an antivirus and spyware combined.  Less clutter.

Thats why I use Kaspersky, it does it all in one, I just use superantispyware for a once in a while sweep but it never finds anything though, but its always worth having a on demand scanner for a just in case check  ;D

I think that answers the original question, Gary.  ;)

As Gary said, it shouldn't do that, and is generally a good bit of software.  I would try uninstalling and reinstalling it, Lona, as even with AVG, it's handy to have an alternative on board for the occasional on-demand scan.

As well as SUPERAntispyware I have SpywareBlaster installed. I do a quick full computer scan with the former once a week and a deep full scan once a month just before I make my monthly Acronis TI full image backup.

I wasn't being funny... it does, because I expect those where it insists on scanning 'C', are using the free version.  :)

AVG 8 would only install after uninstalling superantispyware.  It doesn't seem to like other spyware programmes on your pc.

Ah, they're a pain when they do that.  Sometimes you can get away with installing other things afterwards, but not having used AVG, I can't say for certain.

I've had loads of antispyware programmes on at once in the past.  Could be a Vista thing. ???

Always possible, I guess.

I've got SUPERAntispyware and SpywareBlaster both with Vista but perhaps you could say that they are slightly different types of programs.

I don't think it's a Vista thing, Lona.  F-Secure, which I currently use, insists on the removal of other security programs during installation, but I have installed others, after the FS installation.  If you remove SAS, then install AVG, you should be able to reinstall SAS, if you want to, but as I said, I haven't used AVG myself, so can't be certain how it would react.  It could be that AVG uses bits of SAS (or vice versa), and if both are running simultaneously, they may conflict, but that's just a wild guess.

I have had problems in the past when trying to install certain programs with AVG still running. It's now normal practice for me to disable it when installing things that I think it may possibly get in the way of.
