Title: Paired Disconnects
Post by: Ted on May 01, 2008, 21:48:09
Ever since Andrew tested my line a while back, i haven't had one PPP disconnect :thumb:
On the other hand i have been getting pairs of "dsl down, signal lost" disconnects.

See the pic below.
The second line down is when Andrew tested my line.
The 3rd, 4th and the 5th, 6th are the 2 pairs of disconnects
The last line is current.

Its very unusual for me to see this. Speeds are the same as usual, good.
I only know about it from looking in the logs, (getting paranoid)

That's very peculiar, Ted. There certainly doesn't seem to be a reason for it; the margin at the time of the loss of sync looks good at least. It might be worth providing support with this information so they can get on to BT about it.

If it happens again i will, same as the ppp disconnects its not affecting my speeds or profile, so i'm not too bothered at the moment :rant2:

I'll keep my eye on it and see what happens. If people could check their logs, that would be helpful :thumb:

The risk is that the exchange may see it as instability and push up your target SNRM. That said, your line is good in terms of noise, so it probably wouldn't affect your sync much anyway (that is assuming the target SNRM hasn't been increased already - it's difficult to say for sure with lines like yours)! Still, I'd be inclined to push for a fix if it continues. :)

At the moment i don't think it happens often enough to be seen as instability.
The NM has been the same since i can remember, never gone down even though my best "no re-sync" has been over 60 days and then it was a power cut ;D

Nothing like that in my logs, Ted.
