Rik if you can turn this into a poll i would be gratefull.
there is a purpose to it all.
I am about to test the latest batch of nte5 faceplates, (i do not do soap on a ropes)
the 4(5) that i am testing are
clarity
solwise
nte2000/2005
adsl nation.
soap on a rope
whats a microfilter?
Now i have tested adsl nation before but a techie at work keeps going on about how good it is.
so thinking i have a dodgy (or old style-if there is such a thing) i decided it was time to redo the tests.
add to that the newer nte 2000 and i have a reason for testing. I am still awaiting the nte2005 so cant comment on it at present (or how much better it is compared to the one bt were installing a year ago)
So Rik if you could set up a poll would be nice see what people are using?
That do you, Dean?

Thank you.
adsl nation faceplate refers to the faceplate that screws onto the nte5 the xf-1e is the "soap on a rope" from adsl nation.
just to clarify
I decided I couldn't get soap on a rope into the box as well. ;)
Ah! if you vote but don't reply, it doesn't go up. So "BUMP"
Ah-ha ;D I've found the thread that has caused In to disappear. ;)

That may just be a screen refresh issue, Ted, the vote should still register.

Possibly. What are your line stats?

;D ;D Don't do polls, but I do use Solwise filters, I seem to recall they were around a quid each, they have lasted far longer than the cr*ppy BT " soap on a rope " rubbish that I used before them.

It could give higher sync, which in turn could yield more speed. Generally speaking, a filtered faceplate will do the most, otherwise just removing the ring wire on each socket should make a huge difference (often regardless of the fact that you have pretty standard soap-on-a-rope filters).

Yea, a new house next door to a BT Exchange.. ;D ;D

or a house near Telehouse docklands then just use the free wireless in the area @ apx 30Mb up and down
Or a house in Telehouse. :)
So that would be a Telehouse house... ;)
Though I would like a Hoff house in Telehouse. :)
I have a faceplate fitted to the front of the BT box. It has ADSL v10 on the front, where (if anywhere) does that go in the poll?
I think that's an NTE2000, Noreen.
Thanks, Rik. I bought it online ages ago and can't remember the details now. ;D
Ah, if you bought it, it might be a Solwise or Clarity.
Yup, it's a Solwise.
Probably from Clarity if it's BT branded and says ADSL v1.0.
Well, I've voted for the NTE2000 now. ???
It hasn't got a BT symbol on it, Sebby.
No problem, give me a couple of secs and you can remove your vote and then re-vote...
There you go. :)
Solwise now has the vote, thanks Rik. ;D
NP. I'll change the poll back now. :)
I'm using a faceplate, but it came from B&Q. What do I vote for?
Shall I add an 'Other faceplate' option?
A faceplate is still a filter, and therefore it can go there!
OTOH, Dean seemed to want to separate out face plates from filters...
Not being difficult, am I?
No, you now have an option to suit. :)
I thank you! :D

Haven't a clue, Dean, it's screwed to the wall, plus, it's in an awkward position and I've lost my left handed screwdriver. ;)

use your right handed one in the left hand (works the same or so im told)
alternatively get hammer and smack it till it comes off.
I take no responsibility for your equipment.
I may go to b&q and "buy one" does it fit an nte5 or is it a screw on job?
I didn't fit it myself, but it just replaced a normal phone socket, Dean.

Are you sure it's a Solwise? My Clarity has ADSL v10 on it.
Oh dear! I really can't change it AGAIN. ;D

I've just checked the Solwise site and they sell the same BT faceplate as Clarity, so hopefully that puts an end to any confusion. :)
Should we have a recount then? >:D :out:

;D Bloody polls, what do they ever prove..?? :hehe:
In this case, that there doesn't seem to be much to choose between Solwise and Clarity. ;)
Other than Clarity is probably more expensive. ;)

are they them weird german houses that got shown on discovery home and lesure a while ago
if so the only thing it would need is a load of cat5 and i would be happy
oh and i use random filters that need to be replaced as soon as i get the money though since i now have my router at the MS i might just get a filtered face plate
Those are they, Colin, we looked after one in 2006, they are brilliant. They'll even put in the networking for you. :)

;D
Bump.
Four days left to vote in this poll.

as i like the look of cat5 dangeling from places unknown
We could arrange some specially, Colin, maybe add some LEDs for use at night... ;D
