Title: Frontline: Fuel of War
Post by: zimmerframe on Apr 20, 2008, 12:29:53
http://www.frontlines.com/

Has anyone bought this?  I'm a sucker for hype and bought it from Play.  It arrived yesterday.  It took about an hour to install, including having to download .NET v2.0.50727!  It then needed a 180 odd Mb patch!

I didnt get to play it on-line and am away for a week or so with work so wont get to try it properly untill I get back.

I played about half an hour of the single player mode.  To be honest, it didnt seem half bad :).  I would say if you are a fan of Battlefield2, or 2142, then you will like this too.  The Graphics arent as gritty as say CoD4, (it uses the Unreal engine so is quite colourful) but the maps are much larger, or so it seemed to me.  In single play mode on the first map, you capture and hold waypoints and advance your sqad.

As I say, I away from tonight but will be interested to hear others opinions.  At first glance, I'd give it 8/10 :)

Another patch has been released for this which includes Punkbuster

Its another big patch at about 270 Mb.  I played this on-line again a couple of nights ago.  CoD4 its definatley not but with the right teamplay, (you have to play coordinated team or loose) it not bad.  Maps are large and and vehicle usage can make or spoil the game.  It seems very BF2 like.  OK for the odd dip into.

I'm using an 8800GTS, (older version with 640Mb ram) and a P4 3.4 and its quite playable.
