BT's 'illegal' 2007 Phorm trial profiled tens of thousands.

Yep - wonder how they are gonna twist and turn out of that one ;)
no doubt some "favours" will be called in to get them off the hook >:(
Love the video with the large reel of wire
You know, despite all this publicity, my betting is that the vast majority of customers will tamely opt in if Phorm launches. :(
All depends on how cleverly they market it Rik
I don't think they will need to be that clever, Mad, look at how many customers the big ISPs have. They all signed up on medium term contracts without, in the main, reading the small print. I suspect they will opt in to Phorm with the same gay abandon.
Unfortunately, you're probably right :(
the page listed here http://vancouver.cs.washington.edu/ attempts to check to see if you are getting adverts injected into your pages, interesting read.
Nice find, So. :) :thumb: :karmic:

Likewise! One of the strange things about all this is how quiet our elected representatives have been. Apart from Don Foster the LibDem MP, everyone else seems to be keeping their heads down.
I note that one of the posters on the topic over on TBB insists this is nothing more than Google are doing and, as Phorm have said they are not collecting any personal information it's all ok. Given that he is, or judging from other posts appears to be, one of the more tech savvy people, what hope is there for the rest? Lambs and slaughter come to mind...
Baah. ;D
I agree - people seem to be reacting to this the same way they did to the announcement of the abolition of the 10p tax band a year ago. :(
Heads in the sand...
Well, according to this (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2008/04/17/ripa_phorm_shambles/) nobody seems to want to do anything about it.
Strange how law enforcement agencies (the peeps who are supposed to be there to protect us) can't do this, yet almost anyone else can

It's curious how the Govt doesn't want to be involved, yet is asking ISPs to track down illegal file sharers. Could the two issues be related, I wonder? :rant2:
Do I smell a conspiracy. :eyebrow:
Probably, MB, all is not well in the State of Denmark. :)
I heard it was one of the best countries in the world to live in, you've shattered my illusions. :bawl:
The bacon is good. :)
Shame, I'm a vegetarian.

Pure joy, So. Thankfully, not something we should experience here.
I read somewhere that a few of the Anti Virus Companies are considering treating it as a virus.. ;)
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7359024.stm
Great news :thumb:
After all, the anti spyware software would be doing nothing but what it says it does - detects and gets rid of spyware. ;D
As you would expect, there is now a Firefox Add-on (http://www.dephormation.org.uk/firefox2.html) to beat Phorm. :thumb:
Although it will not affect us with IDNet, I am sure we all know sad souls lost at BT etc who will benefit from this.

FIPR open letter to Home Secretary here (http://www.ispreview.co.uk/index.shtml#EkpApuEkAVKDhafvjL)

Unfortunately true :(
