Hi all,
I have just purchased a Trust wireless keyboard and mouse,everything works, eg mouse and hot keys on the keyboard, but not the actual letter keys.I have the regional settings etc and they are ok.Any ideas anyone.

Have you installed the driver, Alan (I'm assuming it did come with a CD)?

thanks for reply.there are no drivers required apparently :),it is a minimum installation via a usb port for the wireless capability.

Alcav, If you google trust keyboard you will find references to drivers hopefully their installation will solve the problem. Baz the wireless receiver fits in the usb port :)

thanks for your help,it appears the only driver available for this keyboard(ds-3400d)is for win 2000,which indicates a prob on my pc.I can't understand why the hot keys and mouse are working normally though. >:(

I can't think why some keys would work and others not, Alan. Did it come with a CD with some Trust software?
Could you perhaps try the keyboard on another PC to see if it's the same?
I use a Trust Wireless Keyboard in Spain, I just plugged it in, and that was it, no drivers needed. ( XP )
It is possible, tho' unlikely that it is faulty.
Can you tell me if there is any lag with wireless keyboards/mice combos??
Mine (wired) are on the way out. I borrowed a wireless mouse several years ago from my son, but there was a definite lag before the cursor actually moved! Put me right off anything connected by wireless.
Just wondered if things have improved?

No lag at all with any that I have used, I use a Logitech one here, it has been brilliant, had it nearly 3 years now. ;)

My present corded ones are both Logitech, but they are not supported any more, especially for Vista which I tend to use most. So I have to use the generic Vista drivers.
Will have to have a look around I think, 'cos I keep having to go back over what I type to put in missing letters, the springs under some of the keys must be getting weary! I know how they feel. ::)

I use logitech wireless too, and I've nevr experienced any lag either. Been really happy with it :)
Can anyone explain the actual point of wireless mice and keyboards? Surely, you can still only use it in front of your monitor? :dunno:
That's true, but you ain't got any wires catching on stuff when you're moving your mouse around, and getting tangled up together etc. I love wireless :)
I can see the point for mice, Simon, as you're not then dragging a bit of wire about all day. Keyboards have never appealed to me, especially at boot time.

My mouse wire just hangs down the back of the PC desk - doesn't get tangled at all. Still, each to their own. :)

Mine used to get caught on stuff all the time - the PC is at the opposite side of the desk to my mouse, and the mouse wire was always getting caught up on something.
I much prefer wireless; it's so much more tidy. :)

yes good point Rik. Even though I use both it took me a good 30 minutes once to figure out why I couldnt boot into safe mode while frantically tapping away at the F8 key ;D ;D. But apart from that it gives you a bit freedom to move about a bit, slouch back in the chair with keyboard on lap. Mine seem to go through some batteries though especially the mouse so I may switch back.
keep an eye out for a set for sale maybe when I switch :)
I use high powered 2800 rechargeable's in mine, they last for ages. ;)
Just swap them when required.

I've used a Logitech wireless keyboard. The keyboard is great but the mouse that came with it was very poor for use in gaming, especially FPS. If I didn't have this G15 free from Logitech support when I told them my old one had died, I'd be using a wireless keyboard now.
Go on Niall - treat yourself - they are so much better
You won't find a better keyboard than the Logitech G15 for gaming, and it's got programmable keys for various applications (including macros). I can't see the point in changing.
Aha - this hoob is not for gaming - I'd never do anything else if I started :(
I can't recommned enough the Microsoft keyboards and mice - I've had never before used such comfortable equipment. Battery life is fantastic too (about a year for my mouse, keyboard still going after 1 year 3 months).
Re the issue of wireless keyboards and booting up, I've never had this issue at all over the last 5 years or so I've used wireless - I think you just have to enable USB keyboard in the bios!
It works fine most of the time, Lance, but I've found Acronis TI can be temperamental with wireless stuff.
Just to be different, I have a wired keyboard and a wireless optical mouse. :-\
I've got that on one machine, Wilf, with a fully wired second machine.

In all honesty, I don't much now. I seem to have lost interest in games lately, apart from something that makes me think, like RTS games. I did have a brief go of WoW last night as a friend is paying and using my old account, but I was bored rather quickly.
I'm far more keen on photography at the moment.

what batteries do you use Lance? I have microsoft too but the mouse batteries last about 6 months then die.
re the boot up and keyboard, for me its if I need to start in safe mode that the keyboard doesnt work so I guess it will be the same fail if trying to get into the bios.
Yeah, when I had to get into bios after some problems a long time ago, with the Logitech wireless one, I had to use a backup keyboard (wired) to do it.
The batteries which came with the equipment were bog standard Duracells, which lasted ages. I then tend to replace with standard Tesco batteries. I was only expecting around 6 months use, but they just kept going and going!
I went for a wireless keyboard (and with it a wireless laser mouse) as I am using this computer for MythTV, so I can take the keyboard with me to my comfy chairs when watching telly and change channel and stuff.
I'm using Logitech, and apart from Windows XP throwing a fit with it (fixed with a repair of XP) I've had no issues, and no lag.
I'm using a Microsoft wireless mouse and keyboard, comes with rechargeable batteries, and a bluetooth hub and usb hub all in one, means you just click the keyboard onto the hub to charge as well and the mouse sits on top, the keyboad has a mini touch pad while your mouse charges, it uses usb during bootup so you can enter the bios etc. :)
Wires are a pain. but I've only once bought a wireless mouse, it cost me that much money in batteries, never again. :rant2:

I spent more time with the wires in and it charging, than not.
I use a Logitech VX Revolution wireless mouse with my laptop and I love it. With the new Vista machine it ran OK with the Vista driver but later I did install Logitech Setpoint so that I got the extra facilities. I'd hate to go back to that wire getting in the way. ;D
Like Rik, I also had a problem with the mouse and Acronis TI (this was on previous machine) only half the screen displayed when viewing the Boot CD so when using Acronis I change to a MS wired laptop mouse, then I have no problems. I found that some other people have also had this problem and although there are technical workarounds I find just changing on this occasion easier for me.
Standalone Charger Malc ;), mine recharges them in around an hour, they last for ages, months not weeks.
Just wanted to correct my previous post. The problem actually was that the Logitech mouse would only move on the right hand side of the screen, wouldn't go past the centre when using the Acronis CD.

that sounds like a great set up Gary - which model is it? May well keep that one in mind ;)
