In order to see what the forum looked like to non-members following the recent erm er changes, I used IE6 to view, no logged in cookie set there.
Well apart from it looking very sparse and uniniviting ( cough ).. the usual blue bars ( not the header ) are showing as grey.
Any reason for that ??
No reason that I can think of, In. This is what I see in IE7, I don't have 6 on this machine, but in the past the appearance had been the same between 6 & & when I've tried it. Did you look with Opera?
No probs with Opera or FF, just IE6...I don't use IE7.
Strange.
I'll have a look in IE6 when I'm next on one of the other machines.
Fine Rik... ;)

ha ha, I did the same thing In, the forum looked very pale. First time I have used IE for months.

I use IE 6 at work and other than a transparency issue on the logo, it appears as I would expect.
Thanks, Lance. :)

Getting that as well Lance.
I've just checked IE6, In. I'm seeing the same grey bars whether I'm logged in or out - must be a difference between 6 & 7.
It's strange, because it is fine in my IE6
Anything to do with graphics cards, Lance?
I guess it's possible, but IE should just pick up from the style sheet and display that colour!
Agreed, which makes it all the more puzzling. Is there any transparency involved in the bars?
Not as far as I know, but I wasn't that involved with creating the theme so would have to check...
I've just measured the colours on screen shots.
IE6: 94/124/128 (RGB)
IE7: 29/133/162
If my rusty hex is right, that's:
5F/7C/80 & 1D/85/A2
I'm using IE6 at work and it looked the same to me, but, I haven't tried logging out, if I remember, I'll log out tomorrow.
Thanks, Malc. :)

Thanks, Malc. :)
Give me a nudge after 9am tomorrow.
My elbows aren't that long. ;)
I'll be logging out at work too! It'll make a change from timing out... (for which BT are to blame!)
Have just checked again, it is the same grey, logged in or out on IE6.
the appearence differences are most likely the way in which each browser uses the information from the style sheet and the coding within the site. then the colours it uses maybe slighty different.
as when i first went from IE6 to firefox some sites that were not coded properly look different.
which is why programs like dreamweaver have the facility to test the site in multiple browsers.
(though im tired and might have missed the point all together
I haven't got IE6, but can someone have a look and see if there are any differences with the Core theme?
Right. On IE6 everything looked fine. I then logged out and now I too have the different coloured bars.
The colours look the same to me on IE6, either logged in or out.
But, my eyes aren't the best ???
Thanks, Malc.
OK, just took another look, IE6, on the third grey bar down, to the right of " info centre " there is a tiny oblong box that does have the correct blue showing through.
The 'minus' that changes to a + (to expand), when you click it?
I can see that. is that what you mean?
If it was the same colour, I wouldn't be able to see it to open and close the tab.
And it is there whether you're logged in or out, In

That's it Malc, I didn't even realise that it was a minus sign.. ;D ;D ;D
That's that sorted then.
Next ;)

It's only sorted if Admin are content to leave it grey to new-comers Malc. ;)

have used this a few times for this type of test, the results can take a while though
http://browsershots.org/
We will need to take a look at the theme code, to track down what has happened - please bear with us, we don't have a full-time paid programmer.
It isn't urgent as far as I am concerned Rik, in fact I would never have noticed it if the " other " changes hadn't have happened. ;D
Curiously, it shouldn't be related to the other changes, as this appears to be a style-sheet issue affecting IE6 only.
Sorry Rik, crossed wires, I meant that had the other changes not have happened I would never have used IE6 to view the board as a non-member ( not automatically logged in ). ;)

Almost forgot this Simon, " Core " works fine in IE6. ;)
Careful, we'll be down to one theme in no time. ;D

;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Now
that move would at least upset one of the Admin Team Rik.. :duck: ;D
It would be a shame to lose the choice, too.
Indeed Rik, this is the only forum that I know of that offers a choice, there are no doubt others.
I think TB does, from memory.
