Title: Better options for me
Post by: cyprio42 on Mar 22, 2008, 11:32:15
hi
just having a look around the net and I feel there are better options than Idnet for me. I am on fixed 2mb, downloading on average about 5-8gb/month. I am happy with this, but at £24.99 I feel I may be paying to much. I might see if I can drop down a level and try the 5gb package or even move to another ISP. Been looking at ADSL24, they seem to offer more options than IDNET. The ADSL24 Home 3 package at £16.50 looks ok for me. £8 a month saving is a fair bit.
regards

You could try the £17.99pm 8mb download 5gb allowence package. That would be cheaper than what you are on now, and hopefully faster too (depends on your line). Anything over 5gb is charged at £1 per gb.

If you choose to move though, good luck :)

If you can cope with the lack of good customer service, all the throttling, having your browsing habits sold to Phorm and being locked in for at least 12 months if you don't like it you can always go LLU and get "free" broadband from Talk Talk*. At the moment you're paying for a quality service and you can't expect the same level of service for less money IMHO. They will cut corners somewhere. Only you can balance the saving against what you're going to lose.

*Your mileage may vary. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Good luck,
Paul.

I'm not trying to convince you to stay, but what I will say is that you get what you pay for. Before I moved to IDNet, I was with Entanet (ADSL24 as it happens). You get a more generous allowance for less money, but what you don't get is the consistent full speeds that you get on IDNet. Because they offer big off-peak allowances, their capacity suffers during these times. That said, as you're on fixed 2Mb, this is unlikely to affect you.

You could consider IDNet Home Lite at £17.99/month.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do.  :thumb:

I'll 2nd that. I was with ADSL24 before i joined here, and to start with there speed was brilliant but as the new members arrived and possibly some heavy downloaders who took full advantage of the massive off peak allowances then there evening speeds suffered badly. I only ever got my full speed either very early morning or during the day, but this was peak time so there were hardly anybody downloading. I've been here now for nearly 2 months and not once have i lost speed, always full speed regardless what time of day it is.

There just my 2ct! :thumb:
