Title: Initial Download Speeds
Post by: markiep on Mar 13, 2008, 10:19:35
Hi everyone

I was wondering if anybody could advise me.

I migrated to ID Net yesterday and ran a couple of speedtests
which gave me a download speed of 1.8mb.

I also ran the BT speedtester and that, as well as confirming the download
speed, said I had a 2mb profile (which I presume is why I am not getting
speeds above this).

Should this profile increase over the next few days? and hence
my speed or do I need to ask ID Net to give BT a nudge.

I was was getting up to 6.5mb (at 5.30am) previously with my Pipex account,
it would be about a tenth of that in the evening so even 1.8mb is an improvement!

Cheers

Mark

Wait five days, Mark, if it hasn't improved, run a BT test to establish the profile and then give IDNet a call.

Rik's usually able to reply before you've posted. He's that good.  ;D

My line was activated a bit over 8 days ago and it's still on the 2M profile. I'll probably start poking IDNet/BT early next week though it doesn't bother me too much - upload performance seems just fine.

It's normal anyway, I was confused/worried at first too!

Give IDNet a call on Monday, esh, and it should be sorted same day. Upload performance is unaffected as there are no profiles on the upstream. :)
