Post by: Baz on Mar 08, 2008, 13:27:55
does anyone use a download manager program.

have been recommended this one (http://www.freedownloadmanager.org/) and wondered if anyone has used it before.

years ago had Download Accelerator Plus, I think thats what it was called, but couldnt get used to it.

I think they were more useful back in the dial up days, Baz.  I used to use Star Downloader (http://www.stardownloader.com/) but haven't found the need for anything with broadband.  :)

I use Flashget together with the Firefox add-on Flashgot, mainly because it allows you to resume downloads.

Personally, I don't use a download manager; I don't see the need with broadband. I remember GetRight from the old days, though... :)

can you schedule downloads with them. The one I linked to is capable of doing it which is what I was looking at

I've not explored whether DownThemAll can be scheduled - I don't download big enough files to merit it. It is quick, however, providing the site allows multiple downloads - typically I'll get 50-100KB without it and 300KB (i.e. my synch of 2500Mb) with it.

I used to use Mass Downloader but, like others, haven't really found the need since broadband :)

Yes, flashget lets you set a schedule for downloads
