When I left Tiscali they told me I'd never get better than 2mg speed because of my telephone exchange.... just done a speedtest with the thing you guys seem to be using and look!!!!!!!!

I'm gobsmacked!

They told me that my line was incapable of supporting 2M, yet ever since I've been with IDNet I've been getting that no problem. I think they do it deliberately to keep you using as little bandwidth as possible.

Now you know why we like IDNet so much. ISP Heaven. :)

				Yeah its great  ;D

My Cousin uses Tiscali ( I know I know ) was without any connection at all for 3 days last week, they told her it was nationwide and effected all ISP's. :eek4:

Their lies are getting bigger by the day, In. :(

Indeed, she is blissfully in the " believe " mode tho' Rik, as are many I suspect.

They have to be, In, otherwise the clamour would be deafening. If it wasn't for places like this, or TB, none of us would be able to check the facts.

She also spent around £6 trying to get through to them on the phone, I gave up a long time ago trying to convince her that there are better available, I just let her get on with it now. ;)

People don't add in the cost of support calls. It often turns a bargain price into a bad buy. :(

I was told there are no ISP's who don't port block or traffic shape, then wanted me to name one

				Did you? :)

				Name one?

I gave them 3 to annoy them, I also gave fastuk and Be, who wern't, at the time (not sure now), the woman gave up and judging by her reaction, I don't think the script monkey had heard of any of the 3.
It was
Oh  ???

				 ;D
They make these sweeping claims hoping that the caller won't know any better. I suspect, of course, that the majority don't.

The fella at Tiscali tried to convince me to stay, and in the end, when I (politely  >:D) dismissed his daft suggestion that the reason my connection slowed to a crawl in the evening was because "the whole internet" slows down at that time, he accused me of not knowing what I was talking about. :o
What a great way to speak to a customer you're trying to hang on to.

Of course, he was right Bruce - it said so in his script. :)

Excellent!  Just think of the possibilities.  I should write a script for my life and then I'd be right all the time.  ;D

Go easy on the Java, it'll keep you awake at nigh. ;)

I can still post on the Tiscali forums.... makes you want to post the speed thing there let all those poor suckers know they're being screwed - but would they listen? I doubt it - some would - but some people remain blinkered

Some people don't want the hassle of moving (often because of email addresses), some people don't believe it can be better. Thos that want to listen will listen, Chris, others...  :dunno:

i think a lot of the people on the forums are people who know the score, and are depsreatly trying to get out. As an ex Tiscalier, i know a few people on those forums who aren't with Tiscal anymore - they just enjoy going on there to stir up trouble and feel smug - just like me in fact  >:D

There are also people (like one friend of mine) who know they are sh*t and there are better providers arround but are still locked into a long term contract with punitive early termination fees.

Me at poopex for 12 months

that's why, when I left them I specifically looked for one month contracts - my thinking was that if you could leave at any time, then they would have to be good to keep what customers they have. Joined IDNet, and found out I was right  :)
