I would laugh, but I'll stop myself short of being smug. I made that mistake with Nildram when it was the same quality we see here now.
You never know what will happen to IDnet in the future. Things could change that force the current owners to sell up. Everyone has their price, and in this market a good offer is hard to turn down.

But that's where the monthly contract comes into its own. If any of the big players with poor reputations come along waving their cheque book, the customer base will be off like a shot, which of course means that IDNet might not be as attractive to a purchaser as another ISP. Also, IDNet will doubtless be aware that its their service and reliability that binds their customer base to them, not a clause-laden contract. the only problem with that, is that options of smaller ISPs to move to is decreasing all the time :(
That is the big issue now. There's just a handful of companies that I would consider at the moment.
A very small handful! I really don't know where I would have gone, had it not been for IDNet. Probably Zen, maybe Firefly, Namesco or O2.
Newnet?
I did look at Newnet. There was a reason why I discounted them - lack of any webspace, I think.
That wouldn't bother me too much. They do have quite small data allowances these days, I believe, though.
When I swapped from tiscali, in the end it was a toss up between Newnet and IDNet. I have to be honest and say that I was going to sign up with Newnet (can't remember what it was that swayed me that way now), but I had problems with their sign up portal, and it made me reconsider. I signed up with IDNet as a result, and have always been glad that I did. :)

Jerry was too busy being happy on the cable at the time to take much notice. In fact, I seem to remember talking about it with him (during one of our many fag breaks ;D) and his reaction when I said that I'd signed up with IDNet was " never heard of them"!
Still - he saw the error of his ways in the end when he took my advice and tried it for himself ;D

Was very happy on my 10b then, untill traffic shaping really started to kick in. The best thing about cable was there was always something wrong with it, which meant i got a constant reduction in payment. Even if they lost a service I didnt use would still ring up and get a free month or two.
