Title: Recommended FTP clients?
Post by: mark on Feb 25, 2008, 09:29:41
I use the Firefox browser and FireFTP. It's an add-on which works for me. I have no idea whether or not it can be described as 'advanced' though.

NOTE: This thread was a clever exercise in spamming the forum, by two apparently different new members, working in tandem. Rather than delete the thread, which can serve as a useful reference for members, I am removing references to the perpetrators and the product they were pushing.

Any references to 'content removed' in subsequent posts does not reflect on the posters, but is simply this cleansing process.   Rik

If you use Firefox as a browser then why not look at the FireFTP extension for starters. If that doesn't meet your needs I've found SmartFTP very good, and a friend uses GoFTP.

I use http://www.goftp.com/ just for the IDNet webspace. I've no idea if it's "advanced", all I know is that it's simple enough for me to use and I really know nothing about FTP. I found that it was highly recommended online.

I use FTP Commander, the icon for it is a pic of Danger Mouse (for some reason), I quite like that! (the program is good too, and free).

I use WS FTP Pro, which is fine for XP, but the last time I checked, it wasn't available for Vista.

I have loads installed but mainly use FireFTP for FF and Dreamweaver CS3.

I upload all day at work and never come across many problems with the above 2.

Filezilla is another one i/we use.

To go against the grain - and return to topic - I use DOpus as a complete explorer replacement with FTP support - can't get much simpler to use than drag and drop as though the remote location was a local drive. And it offers so much more. Window's explorer is ancient history here.
