.....I cant tell if I have used 30gb or 100gb :-[
and I get this now on GMS webmail -:

I had no problem getting it before I added the Java plugin for FF... ???

Webmail is fine for me, so as maxping suggests, that's probably related to you installing the Java plug-in.
I do, however, get the same message as you regarding the bandwidth usage at the moment (and my router was rebooted only a couple of days ago), so I suspect something is up with that part of the system.
I found the bandwidth doesnt come up automatically since the new count started on the 1st October click submit and its there

LOL, that's just what I happened to be trying as you were writing that post, and you're dead right, that's all the problem was. :)
Still give Netmeter a try, it sits in the corner doing its thing and it gives a really detailed breakdown of your usage.
I do, and in fact use BitMeterII these days as well, which gives an even better breakdown I find. :)
