I am looking for a new anti virus and firewall . Can anyone recommend a decent one which is going to cost the earth ? :eek4:
Dunno 'bout a decent one ........... but Norton costs the earth!!
AVG Free does a good job, but recently I discovered Kaspersky. It's extremely good value and a fantastic antivirus. What you could do is buy Kaspersky Internet Security, which contains a firewall too. You can get a 3 user license here (http://www.eclipsecomputers.com/product.aspx?code=SWK-INTSEC73) for under £15. Bargain!
Just relised what I put. Should have read looking for a decent and CHEAP anti virus and firewall.
From an experienced pc user on another forum, it's not free, Bill.
QuoteOn my Vista machine at home I have been using the new ESET ESS suite. It includes Nod32 anti virus, anti spyware, and firewall. It is totally unobtrusive and you hardly know it's there, It just works without bothering you.
I'm using NOD32 anti virus v3 plus free Comodo v2.4 firewall myself.
I use AVG Anti Virus and Comodo Firewall Bill, both free. .. oh and SuperAntiSpyware, also free.
Never had a problem.
I use NOD32 anti virus and at the moment just my router firewall.
I use AVG Pro for anti-virus (£12.00 for two years; has better tech support than the free version which is just as good). AVG Anti-Spyware for malware (free) and Comodo for firewall (also free) ;D
I forgot to say that I also use SUPERAntiSpyware and SpywareBlaster.
BTW Bill, if you decide to go for the free Comodo firewall I'd suggest that you go for v2.4 and not the latest v3. The latest version still appears to be having teething troubles.
Used AVG free version and Zonealarm (free) for 5 or 6 years and they served me well. Now use AVG all in one paid for version, just renewed for another two years £24.65, About £48. for the first two years though. Also use Spyware blaster. :)
Its a bit worrying when I see Bazs post that my computer can give out so much info. ISP,web browser ect. Is there any way of stoping this info from being given out ?
Only if you're paranoid, Bill, in which case you'd end up having problems with many websites.

It's only you that can see it. ;)
It's information that everyone's computer gives out.
The funny thing about that is, on a few forums I used to browse, they were so paranoid about that, they banned people using it then blacklisted a site hosting the banners :D
All it's doing is locally calling up the information, which you can do yourself.
Quite, Niall. :)
