Hi Folks,
Rik has been advising/helping me with my new 2700 [which I just bought as according to BT, my UPSPEED is causing me to lose my download speed......]
A question.
I have been into Firewall – Settings and set an open TCP port - I have added it into my list BUT when I test for it, it says that is closed! Does this mean I have to reboot the router?
Does ANYONE have an idea what I am doing wrong?

For this computer:
• Edit firewall settings
• View device details
dual ----------------------- and the active one ???? which now has them

**** EDIT - As an aside, what do you folks have in Broadband Link Advanced Settings for your "ATM Encapsulation"? Mine is "Bridged LLC", which is something I have never seen - it is usually "VC-MUX" on all my other routers.

If I've understood you correctly, you're saying the Home Network is showing 2 PCs called "dual", one of which in inactive. If this is the case, it's probably because you've changed the PC's IP address and the router is now a bit confused. :P
The 2Wire is telling you that you are forwarding 2 services (
azurus and
azurus2) to the active PC, which seems correct to me. You shouldn't need to reboot the router. Are you sure you're forwarding the correct ports?
Regarding the broadband link settings, the ATM encapsulation should be set to VC-MUX, though some users have found that if ATM PVC Search is enabled, then the other settings are overridden (as the router will get the correct settings from the exchange). Personally, I have ATM PVC Search set to disabled, then the necessary settings input manually:
DSL Line Selection: Automatic
ATM Circuit Identifier: VPC: 0 VCI: 38
ATM Encapsulation: Routed VC-MUX
ATM PVC Search: Disabled

I initially had to get to the router using its 192.168.1.xx address, however my network uses 102.168.0.xx and I changed the address of the router. Which in turn changed the DHCP range.
Will this "phantom" PC go in 24 hours?
I now have the TCP addresses on the correct "dual". The default to add ports was on the "phantom" one and hence it did not work.
SO - Should it "bridged" or "routed" VC-MUX?? I have NO idea! :'(
I haven't been able to see a pattern. It's not the most intelligent of routers when it comes to this (but it makes up for it in other areas!). It should disappear, but if not, don't worry; it'll certainly go after a reboot.
It should be Routed VC-MUX, but like I said, if you have ATM PVC Search enabled it's like that it's ignoring any other settings. You can use my manual settings above; they are all correct. :)
This is starting to get me cross!
If I try to change ANYTHING on that page it comes up with this error;
"Your PPP Username is not correct! "
It IS correct - thats how I am logged in.....
I have also noticed that the DSL Line Selection is showing "Line 1 (inner pair)" [and it cant be changed]
SO - Where/how can I set these settings manually?

When you click SAVE any permissible changes take effect and the remainder are ignored and an error such as the above is returned.
Your username is rejected by the script because the domain name part is not included in the router's permitted domain list.
Any parameters you have selected to alter are changed when you SAVE the settings.

I think you need to manually type the line of javascript into the address bar, rather than pressing the save or submit button. Doing this bypasses the validation check.

Thanks Peeps - some of that bits sorted [the refresh didn't work Kinmel], however while waiting I thought I would go through the setup wizard again. I used a different keycode 5225-2374-WG62-22AS-BJ7P [from Think ] and it let me into the manual setup!.

HOWEVER when it rebooted the internet connction everything was ok except for;
Unable to Access Configuration Server.
The gateway is unable to access the configuration server.
Is this the BT server?

That's fine; inner pair is correct for the UK anyway.

You use that in place of hitting Save, Mike. TBH, I wouldn't worry too much about getting to the off state, I ran my 2700 in bridged mode with search on for several weeks, and it worked just as well. :)
