At max I want to spend £70, but since I bought a gig more ram, and a 7600GT im a bit skint.
Generally I have nothing else that uses wireless, though in future may use my PS2 or XBOX(or Wii when it is released) for gaming.
Its mainly as I heard routers give a reasonable difference than a modem(I have 2, a Speedtouch 330, and a Sagem F@st 800 I think, whatever Tiscali gives you)
Both cr*ppy modems, though they did the trick.
Also now I have a high spec PC, and a posh TV in living room, I like to be "Mr High Tech" and better than the rest of the crowd, though I dont really care about brand of router, as long as its good!(brand names arent always best)

I got one with the DG834GT chipset for £10 incl postage ;)
From what I've read the DG834GT is pretty good and supports SNR tweaking. Also the Zyxel seems quite good, also features SNR tweaking and comes with a free PCMCIA or USB wireless adapter for £47.84 (£ 40.72 ex VAT) (http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/MFR/?SupplierID=6) :) I was going to buy one of those or a DG834G/GT (http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/MFR/ShopDetail.asp?ProductID=1408) but I ended up getting one for a bargain which has loads of extra functions :)
Also I hear the speedtouch routers are good (http://www.broadbandbuyer.co.uk/Shop/MFR/?SupplierID=26). Have seen a few people here who have them. Some of the latest models also support SNR tweaking.
The in thing atm with routers seems to be the ability to tweak SNR for maxadsl. Not tried it myself but I believe different sync rates can be achieved.
I've seen a lot of DG834G's go on ebay for around £30 also

But surely the throughput would be determined by the adsl sync rate. So anything 8mb/s or over would be the same on adslmax. (prob anything over 6-7mb/sec)
The ADSL line would be a bottleneck.
Something interesting might be a chart showing wireless throughput or LAN throughput but even that would only have an effect dependant on how much you use the internal network ???

I have a netgear DG834g its the first router i have ever used and wasnt sure quite what to expect when i set it up but its very easy to install and works a treat. Also being new to them i reset it once and thought i had broken it but i rang netgears cs and they are very helpfull and quick to respond.
I used to use the Netgear DG834G for around 18 months ish i agree its one of the easiest to set up but the wireless connection kept dropping i bought a SpeedTouch 585i v6 cheap too great little router no dropouts on me wireless network either.
Must admit i dont use wireless with my DG834G and have the option switched off (not sure if the newer drivers have resolved any problems).
It was only in the last 3 months of using it i had the problem with it probably if i had reset it back to factory settings and reconfigured it it probably would have fixed it but me being as thick as i am didn't think of that at the time.

My dg834g v2 has been rock solid from the day I got it. I currently use V3.01.25 (latest I think) firmware and wireless for xbox live on my 360 and a 2nd pc in another room haven't had any problems.
