I'd like to take a moment to point out my, fairly short, experience with a 2700HGV. As some members will know, not too long ago I purchased one on eBay after updating my cabling. It synced at around ~6200 which was an improvement over my previous sync of ~3500 on the old cabling, so I left it alone. It seemed to be working fine, until I logged into it and found it was constantly re-syncing for no apparent reason, often at a lower speed. But again, it synced at over ~6000 so I left it alone.
Then I began to use a wireless device with it, which brought to light another problem for me. The wireless connection would often time-out or go down every few minutes, with no clear pattern. I looked at the router, checking all the settings, and everything was fine. I switched to a wired machine as I thought it may be the laptop which had problems. But then, for various reasons, I had to go back to the laptop.
Eventually I got sick of the wireless drops, and as an experiment I put my old router back (DG834Gv2). The first thing I noticed is that it synced at ~7100 (at 2-3am), which was quite surprising as I had expected the 2700 to be better. The second thing is the wireless no longer drops constantly, and it seems a bit snappier at page loading. Hopefully the sync will hold up, the current SNR is 3db, if it does drop it shouldn't drop much.
Overall I'm fairly disappointed with the 2700HGV as it is highly recommended by many. For me it underperformed with wireless performance, though range wasn't an issue, and also on DSL performance with the DG834G syncing higher (so far). I bought a few of these and sold them to some friends and colleagues, so I'll be asking them if they have any problems. I'll report back on their comments once I've had a chance to see them. :)
I suppose there have to be some people who have bad experiences with the 2700, Adam. I used to have a Draytek Vigor 2600+ before Max, which was highly recommended and performed well. Once I moved to Max, though, it was very unstable and I shifted to the lowly Netgear which gave sterling service. For me, though, the 2700 has added 1000k to my profile, has been stable and has a better wireless coverage.
It will be interesting to see if your contacts have had a good or bad experience, as this router is such a niche product that we are only slowly building a picture of it.
I'm currently using a Draytek 2600+ and am thinking of getting a 2700HGV from ebay...

It was the best move that I made second only to signing up to Idnet ;D I have not had a re-sync for 23 days which is the same time that I unpluged my old laptop and pluged in my new one. So I can assume that any resyncs up to then were caused by my power supply unit on my HP laptop. ;D
Like Den, for me being on IDNet and using a 2700HGV is like being in heaven!
After my problems this week, we might have another bad user story to add here at the end of the week :-\
I'm currently back on my netgear dg834g router and notice ping times and page load times are quicker. Just have to wait 3 days now for my sync/margin to re-correct it self after constant re-trains and drops.
Will also see what support say tomorrow.
I wonder whether the older 2700s are better than the more recent, dual SSID, ones? That said, Gary has the latter and seems to be getting on fine with it.
I have had no problems with my dual SSID version either, its been up for the past 25 days connected at 3552kbs, since the unlocked model that I brought failed.
