Title: Port Forwarding
Post by: DaveH on Jan 19, 2008, 15:48:25
Hiya.

Having a problem port forwarding on my eTEC PT-8411G router. If anyone has the same one, maybe they can assist...

I need to forward port 113 to allow mIRC Identd/Auth requests to be fulfilled, but when I add port 113 to the router config it comes up with an error message telling me that the IP address I entered (My iDnet static IP) is incorrect, and it should be set within the current subnet.

Now call me an idiot if you like, but I don't WANT to use anything other than my static IP - That's the only one the IRC server sees, and it's the only one they send Ident requests to.

Any ideas chaps/chapesses?

Ta

Dave

Don't worry, sometimes I get through an entire thread in the wrong area. ;)

Hi Dave, and  :welc:

You might find something useful at: http://portforward.com/routers.htm

Hope that helps!  :)

I've managed to find this router and get hold of the manual.

It looks quite simple on that particular router. First, if your PC(s) do not have static IPs assigned, you're going to need to do that.

On the router's configuration page (in your web browser, navigate to 192.168.1.1), go to "Advance" > "Firewall" > "Port Forwarding". Tick "Enable port forwarding", fill in the IP address of the PC that you want to forward the port to, then the port range (if it's a single port, for example 4661, then fill in the range as 4661-4661), the protocol (usually TCP, but can be UDP), and a comment (e.g. BitTorrent, or whatever the application is). Click "Submit" then you have to do a reset (click "Reset").

I hope this helps. :)
