Title: Speed
Post by: maxping on Sep 18, 2006, 12:56:16
Has anyone else noticed a big drop in speeds in the last 30 mins ?(approx 12:30)

It was flying this morning and now I'm getting this -

Downstream.....554.9 Kbps ( = 0.5 Mbps )
Upstream......... 372.1 Kbps ( = 0.4 Mbps )

Something to do with the ping problems mayb? I remember EQUK posting when the ping problem was sorted for a day or two that his speeds had gone down, or it could be your exchange. I cant test mine as im not at home!

I dared to say...^^  :o

yup, mine is the same and co-incidently the pings seem more stable  ??? ::)

Altho once u put data down the line they are higher, prob due to throughput again.

I think it's getting close to the time when I ask for a MAC code, something strange happening at idnet

I wonder if anyone here can confirm that they're *not* experiencing high pings or speed problems at present this afternoon?  I'm sure it would useful (in view of previous "I'm not experiencing a problem?" "Have you checked" "Um, no , hang on;  oh dear, actually I am " episodes  :P ;D ) to actually get some hard data on the proportion of connections experiencing what looks on the face of it like a possibly more widespread outage today.

Router had not reconnected/resynced since i did the last lot!

- Speeds are 100% fine...but then again my speeds might not be affected the way higher syncs may be!

Perhaps they just saw your MAC request  ;D

Seriously, though, the ups and downs during the daytime without even reconnecting are certainly strange, though not unusual as we know by now.

Not really up on pings or pongs for that matter but there was a noticeable drop in download speed at the time you mentioned.

Sorry, but I am so glad I wasn't the only one affected :timeout:

Seems back to normal now though.

Hi, new idnetter here, not happy about the speed so far though..

Those speeds are pretty much consistant, adslguide shows similar results.
Connected at 7616 down, 448 up. Interleaved on, SNR 9.0

latency & stability are great in practice, though so far the speeds are worse than when with plusnet 2mb.

Mines ok at the moment

but the last few days has been up and down like a yoyo more down than up.
