Post by: Noreen on Jan 17, 2008, 11:36:14
Blackspear has now issued an installation and setup guide for the new v3. http://www.wilderssecurity.com/showthread.php?t=197509

Good old Blackspear. Thanks for that, Noreen. :)

Yes, I used his previous guide for v2.7 which I'm still using. If I do install v3 I'll certainly use this guide as I've read that it can be complicated to set up.

He does a sterling job over at Wilders, if he was in the UK I'd expect him to be an IDNet customer. ;)

Wow, what a comprehensive guide! I don't use NOD32 myself (I've recently made the move from AVG Free to Kaspersky) but it's certainly very useful for any NOD32 users out there.

Finally taken the plunge and upgraded to v3. Just set at typical level at the moment, I will eventually use this guide to set it up as advised. So fingers crossed. ;D

Everything seems OK at the moment, upgrading was very easy. I sent myself an email to check that it was checking emails and got the message at the bottom so that's OK. I did start to use the guide to do the settings but abandoned it when I got confused, so will try again later. I don't want to use his quick installation program as I want to see what I'm changing.

I used it to set mine up at the beginning of the week.  It's OK until the last 4/5 entries, which I skipped.
The thing is to do as Noreen says and not use the quick way.  Then keep remembering to only follow his instructions if you think it's a good idea.  If you don't feel you want (or don't understand) something, move on to the next item.
That was how I did it, and have had no problems with it so far.

I have been using v3 since it was released, and although I never used the previous version, only trialled it, I think you would find this v3  is a lot easier to find your way around, and set up.

:)

Everything seems fine so far, Mo. The installation was very easy for me as it just installed over the top of my previous version. Like you I don't think that I want all the settings that he recommends, did you change the cleaning sliders Mo?
