Is anyone using the Firefox 3.0 beta? In the past I haven't been able to get into using Firefox as my day-to-day browser, but 3.0 is really good! It's definitely quicker to initially start, and to load pages. The built-in dictionary comes in very handy too.
Highly recommended, even if only to take a peek. ;)

I'll be interested to see if it's much different to Firefox 2. :)
I've got to say there are some noticeable improvements.
Give it a go. I believe you can run it side-by-side with Firefox 2. :)
go slightly off topic :sry: ive got ff 2 on xp set up how i like it, is there anyway to transfer the settings to ubanto ff?
You can certainly transfer Linux user files to another Linux box but not sure about windows to Linux! Wouldn't think so, but i could be wrong :)
Copy all the files in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application
Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ to .mozilla/firefox.
From the command line, run:
Firefox -ProfileManager
Create a new profile with the directory name of the folder you've copied over (e.g. mine is rqaqd5z3.default).
That should do it. :)
Thanx ill try that
Needs to be firefox -ProfileManager on my box, but just opens another copy of firefox! is this a 3 beta thing?
It's probably just me making a mistake as I'm a real novice when it comes to Linux.
I've got a laptop with XP on it (dual booted of course)and a current version of ff on it . Might try and see if this is possible later ;D
If you have one version of FF running you'll have to close it before running a different version.
Here's a question about FireFox.. ..does it hold the icons for the different webpages. I've found in the past that bookmarked URLs with particular icons don't hold for very long. when this issue is fixed, I'll happily move across.
I really don't like firefox :-(. I love IE..... always have done.
I'm unfortunately forced to use FF2 because our company helpdesk performs like a snail in IE but like the starship enterprise in FF2.

They hold ok on my version of FF Ann (2.0.0.11) there should be a new release this week think its the 5th to 2.0.0.12 as well :)
Yup, FF has always stored favicons OK for me too. :)
It's storing them fine here on FF 3.0b2. :)
Sebby, how have you found ff3b? ive had some stability issued (closing itself) and one text typed in to a text box (forum etc) came up backwards (ie hello world came up dlrow olleh)
Absolutely no problems at all here, although that was on Vista. I'm now back on XP and haven't got around to installing FF yet.
mind you most of the "issues" occured when i was trying to do bt test, so was constantly clicking reload :-\
Been using it here on an XP dev box since the notification came out - it's behaved impeccably and the only gap noticeable has been the time taken for many of my afve plugins to catch up but I can live with that !
Rendering engine seems noticeably faster - and happily it passes the ACID2 (http://www.webstandards.org/files/acid2/test.html) test too...try that on any flavour of IE :0)
I wonder if it runs faster because of the absence of plug-ins?

That's pretty fascinating stuff!
I notice that IE 8 passes the ACID2 test!!! http://blogs.msdn.com/ie/archive/2007/12/19/internet-explorer-8-and-acid2-a-milestone.aspx
FF 3.0 b3 was released today. Get it here (http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html) (or if you're running an earlier beta, just click Help > Check for Updates..).
There are a couple of visual differences immediately noticeable, and apparently page rendering is faster still.
Out of interest, does anyone here use Opera? I noticed a couple of comments on The Register that made reference to the browser being far superior.
Thanks Seb, I use Opera for certain functions, tho' I use FF as my default browser. ;)
I use IE 6/7, FF 1.5/2, Opera, Now theres a FF3 finial coming out soon and an IE8 later on this/next yr.. Gezzz, soon it'll take a whole day just to test a website in every browser :-\

No prob.
If your running Vista, then Multi IE wont work.. you will have to read this (http://tredosoft.com/IE6_For_Vista_Part_1) to get IE6 working on vista

If your running Vista,
Vista = :puke: :puke: :hehe:

In uses Opera for some things. I test with it, but there's something about it that I just can't get on with.

Good memory, that man.. ;)
Banking, iirc. :)
Indeed Rik, that must make me a Classic Banker.. ;)
You might think that... >:D
Opera hates my Bank, I must admit like Rik there is something about Opera I'm not sure about, also it seems to be slowly getting more bloated as time goes on sadly
I use it with HSBC, Nationwide, Cahoot and Morgan Stanley Gary, no problem, so shouldn't that read:
My Bank hates Opera? ;) ;D
My bank used to sponsor opera... >:D
