The xmas lights in our house and noise generated by them caused my rock solid sync rate of 8000k to dip to 7742k and thus my IP profile was reduced from 7000k to 6500k >:(
On saturday just past the missus took down the xmas lights ;D and i did 2 reboots of my router and my sync rate went back up to 8000k. I thought id leave it for a day or so and run the bt speedtest again to see if my IP profile had gone back to 7000k , it hasnt .
If this is indeed a stuck profile as I have had 7000k profile all along, are there steps IDNet can take if i contact them to have it back up to where it should be at ?
James
It's not yet stuck, it will take up to five days to recover, I'm afraid. If it's still stuck after that, IDNet can intervene.
Happy noo yeaaahh to you rik ;)
I thought the time period you allow was 3 days , if it that is passed , then its stuck. If it has stuck, whats the odds of idnet getting it sorted rik ? Is profile sticking a common or rare ocurrence ?
James
Happy New Year to you too, James.
BT changed the system last August (?) so that large changes in profile were corrected more quickly, but small ones took longer, 5 days. Assuming you've had a stable sync since Saturday, then you should see it rise on Thursday.
Stuck profiles are not that common, but they do occur. That I know of, IDNet are very successful and getting them moving again. :)
even at the 6500k profile , im getting throughput of 5987k and that is damned good, with my 7000k profile back it will be at the 6400k throughput im used to , and to think about the bad ole days at talk talk, i actually had a speedtest telling me my download speed was 40 kpbs..............where are my tablets !!!!!!..................
cheers rik
James
Stop trying to make me jealous. :P ;D
Not wishing to rub it in, Rik >:D, I've just got this speed test result: -

Not bad for a 6500 profile. ;)
My latest speed result:

It's fantastic for a 250k profile. ;D

I'm going away to sulk in the corner - although Adam's speeds make mine look quite impressive. >:D

That page doesn't half hang my laptop.....
Just so you can all take proper pity on me. Not bad throughput for a 2500 profile, though. :)

Maidenhead improves the ping:

The ping on that site is ridiculous. It is very inaccurate.
I know, but it's interesting to see the variation between Maidenhead and London.
When I tried it on London the ping was 71ms :-\
