El Reg (http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/12/31/home_server/) is reporting a confirmed bug in Windows Home Server.
"It apparently occurs when:
* A home server is under an extreme load. For example, lots of files are being copied to the home server
* At the same time, a user is editing files that are already saved in a shared folder on the home server.
* The program that the user is using to edit these files is one of the programs that are listed in this (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/946676/en-us?spid=12624) article."
I can't help but wonder if they tested the OS? :(

I suspect they used the same people from the Vista testing team. >:D I personally use Linux for a file server at home and have yet to have any problems with it, and it works fine with Windows shares.
