Title: Photoshop Elements elementary question
Post by: dudwell on Dec 30, 2007, 11:56:08
I'm grappling with Photoshop Elements 3.0 and I'm being driven mad by the magnetic lasso tool. I delineate an area of my picture, close the contour with a double click and move the tool away. Then how do I get rid of the tool in order to revert to a mouse arrow? There must be a very simple solution but I've been unable to find it.

Thanks in anticipation!

I just change the tool in the palette, but that's with Photoshop, Elements may be different.

Seems to be the same in Elements as well, Rik, at least that's the only way I've found yet to do it.  :)

Thanks, Ray. I must confess it's a tool I rarely use.

Right click > Deselect  :)

Doesn't that remove the selection, not the tool selection?

Oh, sorry, misread the question.  (http://si6776.www.idnet.com/smileys/red-face.gif)  Yes, just select another tool.  I usually use the Rectangle Marquee tool to get out of anything else.  :)

Aahh... I've been searching for something that doesn't exist and I didn't need another tool. Thanks everybody for the superspeedy replies, much appreciated. I'll go back to playing with photoediting now. :)

Glad we could help. :) Enjoy your editing. (I just copied a head from one person to another in a group shot, then printed it and waited to see how long it took people to notice. I was surprised - it was several minutes...)
