Basically i have no idea why but
With my speedtouch 580 i could get 4000 servers easily on css server list
With my 2700hgv i can only find 700-ish
With call of duty 4 i can only find a few decent ping servers :-\
Although i can join friends if they are in the servers i cannot find :'(
Iv forwarded the ports etc. is there some form of protection on?
While I'm no expert on the 2700hgv I can see no reason why it would block the listing of servers. If you can connect to the servers then I can't imaging any form of blocking is in place. I'm sure one of the resident 2700hgv experts will be along shortly though. :P
It wouldn't have anything to do with UPnP would it Sam?
I dont think so
iirc my speedtouch had upnp turned off ???
Its like its treating them as incoming threats? i dno
Maybe i can try allseeingeye for the time being but why its doing this, i dont know

In the firewall settings there are options to open ports for games, don't know if this would help your issue :-\ click your local network and edit the firewall settings for your pc and look in the list for the game ports you can open,
Thanks guys
ill have a "mess" later xD

Had you maybe forwarded ports manually then?
Speedtouch = upnp off and ports forwarded
that cud find lots of servers
2700hgv = ports for the game forwarded (as specified on game website for example or in manual)
hardly any =/
The pre-defined rules may not match the ports your game is using. You may need to add applications manually and then assign those to your computer.
Ye thats what i have done mate
such as i had to create a utorrent app
to port 58888 for example
then assign to my pc which is BlackMagic and not my laptop which is SamLappy
So either there are some ports not stated by manufacturer that are needed for server lists - making it block them when most routers let it through
orrrrrr
the router is treating the amount of connections as an attack/limiting the amount of simultaneous connections (i spelt that wrong i bet)
Its still limiting the amount of servers showing up in the server list =/
Any ideas?
Just a long shot but would it have anything to do with Excessive session detection in the advanced firewall settings? if it is you can disable it there.
As i say, only a thought :)
I was wondering that myself, Ted, but as I know nothing about torrents, decided to let someone else volunteer the idea. :)
Rik it aint the torrents which have the issue, its listing the server list for call of duty 4 or counter strike. Its like all the servers are hidden :|
Do you have any torrents running though, Sam? I'm guessing not, but if you do, maybe they are getting in the way.
Nope :( Low ping gaming + torrents does not work :P
I can connect to direct IP addresses but its not too useful for finding them
Have you tried turning off the Attack Detection in the Firewall?
The router may see all these servers as a threat and block them.
The 2700 is essentially a business hub, so the default firewall settings might not be ideal for gaming ;D
