Hi all
I've had a problem now for awhile transfering data wirelessly between my home computers. I've uploaded a picture below (transfering a Crysis Map Pack to the other PC in the house).

But look at the Network utilisation.... 0.2% ??? Surely this should be maxed out, no wonder it's taking nearly 7 minutes to send the data. Just wondered if anyone had any items to check? Perhaps reg keys or something?
OS is XP Home (SP2). My Wireless strength is v.good and I have no internet issues, just the network is dog slow. :( I've got the SP2 Firewall running but I can access the PC fine, so it's not being blocked or anything and can game fine over the LAN.

Can you try a cable connection, Jimbo? If you can, and all is well, it would point the finger firmly at the wireless side.

Look for a limited speed rating. Fwiw, on a net transfer, my machine goes to about .2% activity. I haven't got another machine on at the moment to check LAN speeds, but I'd expect it to go significantly higher than that.

Rik, managed to solve it. Well... make it a bit quicker. :) I used NetMeter to monitor to transfer speeds. Originally it was transfering at ~17KB/s over the network. I've changed the Wireless Channel (to number 7) and it now transfers at ~46KB/s over the network! The utilisation has also gone from 0.23% -> 0.7%.
Must of been interference around still, causing the slow transfer speed!

Interference sounds about right, Jimbo. I suspect wireless will become more and more unreliable in urban areas as it becomes commonplace. Of course, with a 2700 router running SBC software, you can always crank up your power... :evil:

Oooh good point?!?! That's weird, obviously because the Wireless channel won't have anything to do with the wired side of things. I think that can be a problem for another day, lol, saying as I'm not using it anyway. :D Perhaps a fresh OS install may help?
It could just be that the wireless side was still picking up interference, Jimbo. If it's OK now, I'd leave further investigations until you need them. ;)
