Title: Internet Connection Speed Dropped...
Post by: emzino on Dec 17, 2007, 01:11:05
Hi. I used to connect at a healthy 3.9-4.2mb but now I get no higher than 3.2mb and most it connects at 2.9mb which seems extremely slow!

Why is this?

Without some more information, I really can't say. Ideally, what I need from you is your lines stats, the results of a BT speed test, and a brief description of your telephone wiring layout, eg how many sockets, what is attached aside from your router, what sort of phone cables you are using (flat or round).

If you're not sure how to get your line stats, you'll probably find the answer here:

The BT speed test is at:

Note that you will need your IDNet login to carry out the test, also that the test site can be very busy, so patience is required. Early mornings seem to be best.
