Post by: ducky22 on Dec 16, 2007, 16:00:10
Is anyone else having issues with google searches? The homepage is slow to load for me and searches even slower!

Google seems slow and the forum is also being affected slightly (by Google Analyticals). Support advised.

I'd agree, Alf, it's being very erratic.

Unlike the last problem, only Google is being affected for me.
Title: UPDATE
Post by: Rik on Dec 16, 2007, 17:05:44
Simon has checked the routers at IDNet, and there's no problems there. I've found a report on ThinkBroadband of this problem affecting other ISPs, so it appears to be a Google issue at the moment.

Google not working, Facebook broken earlier and another forum I read has been broken all day.  I thought the internet was coming to an end.

As far as we know, Ann, it's not an IDNet issue, but can you let me have the URL of the forum and I'll pass it on. Use PM if you prefer.

That does appear to be a server down, Ann. You might be interested to know, though, that McAfee has the site tagged as 'amber', they appear to have some risky elements there when they inspected it, eg spamming or infected downloads.

Facebook is OK and is pinging about 164ms, Google is pinging erratically, which fits with the performance I've been watching this afternoon.

It's been 'on and off' for several hours, Sebby. Let's hope we have now reached the point of being more on than off. :)

Same as last month:

More than one specific site, including

Google
Idnetters

not including

BBC
natwest.com

I say DNS problem like last time.

Very annoying to effectively do without Google.

The only effect I've seen on the forum has been due to our use of Google Analyticals.
