Reminds me of a piece I once wrote announcing the invention of the keyboard to replace voice-driven input.

I could never understand why anyone would think voice driven input would be preferable to a keyboard. Can you imagine 100+ people in an office all talking to their PC's at the same time ?

That was one of the angles I brought out in the piece I wrote, and that laryngitis would no longer require a day off.

It was an audition piece for the data processing firm, DRS, when they wanted a freelance writer.

That's quite a funny article. I use Vista so I can relate to a lot of it. In some respects, Vista is a step back (certainly performance and reliability, at this early stage at least). But there are some great things about it that make it "nicer" to use than XP.
