As some of you will know I have been using a 2700HGV router for the last few months and IMO it is just the best on my line. I have the newer version with the BT VOIP. Having read so many good reports on here about the SBC version I ordered one the other day from the guy on DSL Zone. So I hope over the next few days to be able to say which version if either is the better one. My first one which I shall call VOIP stayed connected for as long as I wanted it to. I had one or two DSL retrains but these seemed to stop after a software update.
The one which turned up today was just as easy to set up as the first one. The screen had changed slightly using the SBC software and it looked bear with out those functions at the top. The main things between the 2 is that the SBC version does seem to sync higher then the VOIP version. Having restarted them both today the SBC had a higher sync every time. The VOIP version has a infomation graph which lets you see how fast your connection is. This seems to be missing on the SBC version. Then of course there is the wireless settings. On my older VOIP one you do not have the option to change the wireless signal. It is much stronger then any other normal router I have tried but it was not as powerful as the SBC version which was set on the UK legal limit of 4.
I will give a update in a few days time to let you know if it is holding the line as well as my older one. If anyone want to know anything then please ask.

The 425 firmware is widely available on the internet, i have a copy. Make certain that you do not have a dual ssid version of the 2700hgv. If you do, then DO NOT flash it with the SBC firmware as they are incompatible.
some uses for a wrongly flashed 2700 would be, frisbee, doorstop, book end, ornament, but alas not a router.
Hm, that has confounded me, here I was happily thinking that an 2700hgv was an 2700hgv.
Now I see that there are many versions :grn:
I bought one from DigiDave on eBay today. I hope it's the 2700 I'm expecting! :o

just the two versions that i know of. The earlier single ssid and the later dual ssid versions.
Both should work equally as well but the earlier version can be flashed with the american SBC firmware to make it "truly" unlocked from BT.
Well a week on and there has been no loss of sync, I had one DSL retrain which did not cause me any problems. Just wish I called get my NM lowered to see if it can still hold the line well.
Hold sync for 14 days and the target SNRM will drop 3dB, all being well. :)
