My speed appeared to be crawling for some reason, so i did a bt speedtest:
Test1 comprises of Best Effort Test: -provides background information.
IP profile for your line is - 1500 kbps
DSL connection rate: 832 kbps(UP-STREAM) 8128 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 1366 kbps
Whats happened here then? ???
Keep a check and f it stays the same contact Support.
You've had a low-speed sync event for some reason. Given you normally sync at 8128, it should recover quickly, but if your router logs disconnections, it would be worth checking it to see when it happened, and if you can establish a reason.
Connection was all over the place last night actually, could the high winds be the culprit?
EDIT: I cant believe how quick you get a response on here :karmic:
If you have an overhead line, then wind is always a potential cause of problems. I know I had a power blip just after 1am, it caused a mass or errors but still held the line.
Thanks, we try to be quick. Sometimes we try to give the right answer too. ;)
Any ideas how long it takes to recover (roughly)?
It should be within 75 minutes if you had one isolated low-speed sync and then went back to your normal speed. However, if there were multiple re-syncs, it could take as long as five days - it just depends on how the BT line management software reacts. :(
When I have wind it doesn't seem to affect my connection but does take a day or so to recover. >:D
He has come on to Idnetters and it was too good an opportunity. ;D
The burning question, Alf, is "has he signed up here". :)
Did you see Noreen wants to put you in her chorus line, btw?

Pleased to report everythings back on track :)
The system worked. :) I suppose it says something about the faith we have in BT that we are surprised when it does. :(
