Title: Net gridlock
Post by: Gary on Nov 23, 2007, 15:20:56
There are reports popping up that unless more work is done on bandwidth, by 2010 we are going to be experiencing near dial up speeds possibly  :-\ the total cost to improve the infrastructure could be as high as £66bn. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/technology/7103426.stm

Some of will hardly notice. ;)

The big question, I guess, is who pays - ultimately it will be us, but who puts up the cash in the interim?

Well I can't see the government or the big ISP's doing it Rik or BT as this will scupper their 21st century network, and at a massive cost as well.

Well unless they hike the prices of broadband massively to th consumer which I can't see, all that can be done is throttling on a grand scale Rik  :(

Well since they don't seem to care for their customers that much I would not feel bad about misspelling the name Rik

QuoteSuch gridlock would drastically affect how people use the web and could mean the next Google or YouTube simply doesn't get off the ground, it said.

That may not be such a bad thing.   :-\
