Hi there,
I've just run the BT speedtester a couple of times and got these results:
IP profile for your line is - 4000 kbps
DSL connection rate: 448 kbps(UP-STREAM) 7072 kbps(DOWN-STREAM)
Actual IP throughput achieved during the test was - 3731 kbps
Shouldn't I have a profile of 6000 kbps if my sync speed is 7000?
Hi, and welcome to the forum. Have a karma. :)
Yes, your profile should be 6000 - how long have you maintained that sync speed? If you've had a recent low-sync event, the profile may have dropped in response. If, otoh, you've had a steady sync at that speed for five days or more, it's probably stuck. In that case, give support a ring (or email them) and they can get BT to kick the tyres for you.
Still can not get the BT Speedtester to run, no matter what time of day or night..............................................

I can usually get there with some persistence, Red, early mornings seem to be best. Are you getting an error message or just the interminable wait?
Thanks for the quick response
I've had a sync speed of around 6000 for months now. I removed the ring wire today and it increased to 7000 which is why I tried the speedtest. I'll give it a few days and then ring support.
Red - I had trouble with the speedtest when I used firefox. I tried internet explorer this morning and it worked fine.

In that case, it will take 3-5 days to lift. Pesky ring wires. ;)
However ringworm and eating disorders...
;D
No, let's not go there... (http://www.emotihost.com/glass12/10.gif)

The IP address discovered on the network associated with your telephone number:XXXXXXXX, did not match the one we have logged from this browser/connection. Please check your telephone number and try again. If problem persists please contact your CP
I am not connecting via a VPN at all and have a static IP

Might be worth having a word with support, Red.
My profile is up to 6000 now, woo. I didn't know there would be a delay once my sync increased. Can't believe that ring wire made such a difference!
Thanks for your help. :D
Ring wires can really pick up a huge amount of noise, depending on the wiring layout. They are not needed by modern phones, and the microfilters generates the ring voltage if needed, so they can be safely removed in all cases. Sadly, BT likes to keep the load on its systems down, hence profiles and delayed adjustment. :( No sound technical reason for either, it's just cheaper for BT. :(
