Wow...hot on the heels of the Home Hub debacle that's been suspiciously absent from any news coverage I've seen (and the bu@@ers are still plugging it) come this (http://www.boardmad.com/2007/10/22/ouch-adsl-connection-problems-anyone/)
Damning evidence from Zen indeed !
Check for your kit here (http://www.linux-mips.org/wiki/AR7) and as the article suggests avoid the potentially wasted expense of an engineer visit to dignoses your shonky connection by testing your broadband product with a bit of kit NOT on this list (beware - this list isn't complete apparently)
Oh joy. :(

Ah yup...and Linksys/Netgear heavily in bed with TI ! ???
Exactly. Should boost the sales of 2 Wire routers!
So, does this mean that existing connections are likely to deteriorate for users of the listed routers? I note that the DG834G is among the line up. :(
I suspect it just means that we will continue to see Netgears having occasional disconnection issues, Simon.
It said on the report that it happens for people whose connection has a fluctuating SNR. So presumably for those who don't, everything is fine. How do we know if we have a fluctuating SNR? Is it just a matter of checking every so often or is there some more techy way to do so?
Routerstats (http://www.vwlowen.co.uk/internet/files.htm) is the easiest way to keep an eye on it, Ann, though Netgears are famed for their noise margin fluctuation - we may have just found out why...
I thought I'd been connected non stop for a couple of weeks.. but the router tells me it's only been 39 hours.. damn.
You can set up the Netgear to email you the logs each day, Ann. I find that's an easy way to keep an eye on any disconnects. Mine usually happen between 9pm - 11pm.
I think this could be a case of ignorance is bliss. I have noticed very few disconnections, but if I had a list of them each day, it would worry me. If it ain't broke...
I tend to drop a profile if I re-sync at that time, so I like to know as I can force a re-sync and gain the speed back for a few days. :)

Was it just the V2 DG834's though? so V3 should be fine, its to late on my pills to read straight :-[
I think the v3 is still TI, it was the GT which went to Broadcom, iirc.

Think you're right Rik, maybe this is why we have the V4 coming, thing is the GT kept overheating and dropping wireless, awful thing one of mine caught fire.
The GT always seemed to be getting bad reports, so I steered well clear.
Just did a quick check Rik seems the DG834v3 has a broadcom chipset http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=zen&Number=3154466&page=0&view=expanded&sb=5&o=
Oh well, I don't have an excuse to buy a new router now. :'(

there's always an excuse to buy a new router, now if IDNet did 2 wire...... ;)
I'm waiting... :)
Mine is a v2. (http://pc-pals.com/smf/Smileys/Smileys/bawl.gif) Still, haven't noticed any real problems.
I happy knowing my 2wire isn't affected!
