An add on or other app which would allow me to synchronis Firefoxe bookmarks between three machines?
Thanks...
I'm sure someone has posted this before... but where! :)
Me neither! ;D
Morning all ;D Is this what you are looking for Rik? http://www.box.net/apps/117 also google do this http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/browsersync/ but google are evil
Thanks, Gary. Ideally, what I want is something which will synchronise them across my network - I would prefer not to rely on external storage. Migo Sync enables me to move a set between machines, but not to merge the files and create a new master set of bookmarks.
They all seem to use external storage, but I found this Foxmarks http://lifehacker.com/software/bookmarks/synchronize-firefox-bookmarks-with-foxmarks-143623.php maybe that's more what you need Rik :)
Thanks, Gary, that looks more like the sort of thing I need. I'll have a play...
Have fun ;D
Another one you might take a look at Rik:

OK - it's shareware (with time-limited free trial) but I think it's well worth the price.
The clincher for me is the multiplicity of browsers supported.

Thanks, John. I'll take a look. I found that Foxmarks duplicate too many bookmarks to be useful in the way I want.
This one will sort out the duplicates and alphabetically sort if you want it.

Duplicates yes, alpha sort no. :)
The sorting is found in the 'Utilities' tab and works ok in Firefox and Mozilla.
The sorting in Micro$oft is dependent on a registry setting. The default setting that you start off with enables alpha sorting. As soon as you make a manual change to the ordering of your favourites/favorites (there's that bl**dy word again!!!) Microsludge throw it's toys out of the pram and says "OK smartypants - you get on with it. I'm not going to sort anymore. You want manual sorting - you got it".
The registry now contains a record of YOUR ordering.
I did have a little .bat to reset to alpha but I've lost it. A google for 'sort favorites registry' throws up a lot of stuff.
http://www.theeldergeek.com/sort_favorites_menu_alphabetical.htm (http://www.theeldergeek.com/sort_favorites_menu_alphabetical.htm)
is one approach.
The usual caveats apply when diddling with the registry.

Thanks, John. I prefer to avoid alpha-sorts when it comes to bookmarks. :)
