Hi all, Do you have to uninstall Office 2003 before installing Office 2007 and if so how do I restore my records into outlook.
Afaik, you can install them side-by-side, Den, though I haven't tried. If it's not happy, I'm sure the installer will tell you.
Don't know about the data though. I would have hoped it could just use the 03 files or would give you the option to import them.
Hopefully, someone who's done it can give you a more informative answer.
Can't bloody afford it! ;D Still on Office 2003 on my XP machine, but have just installed Open Office on laptop, and it seems perfectly adequate, but with no email client.
However, I seem to remember a similar question being asked on PC Pals, and I think the answer is that it won't let you run them side by side, but 2007 will import all the data from the old version.
The easy way to move your emails from 2003 to 2007 is to use the same .pst file. As for moving contacts etc I'm not to sure.
I think you can run two versions of Office side by side - but only have one Outlook installed.

They dont co exsist verry well. I asume you meen the data in outlook ? I just took my pst file and configurd the new outlook (2007) to use that to deliver to. It also holds calender and all that other stuff.
So take a copy of your PST file and use that when setting up your new outlook profile. So that covers the data. Then you need to configur your email connection. You should jot down the login and pop / SMTP server info you setup when you joind your current ISP then just put them on.
DOC XLS and all those othe data files are compatible. The new version of office now has a new document format DOCX XLSX and so on. It is just a portable format to enhance compatibility. All new documents will be created in the new format. You can change that if you need.
I was a beta tester for office 2007. It is way better than xp or 2003. Loads of small things canged but it is just as simple to use.

Thanks once again for all the help :) I thought long and hard before making the move and every time I plucked up the courage another bill came in. Even though this month I have to send in my VAT returns I took the plunge. I will let you all know I get on over the weekend. :P
FWIW, I prefer 2007 over all previous versions!
Yes I like 2007 too, only it's been (and still is) a steep learning curve after using office for so long. I keep finding my self wanting to use the old menu system, which isn't here any more :-\ Ho hum, I'll get the hang of it in time.

Just spent the last hour or so installing. Well impressed so far, 2007 upgraded everything automatically and left me watching a changing screen in charge of its own destiny. Now for the next 12 months getting used to it. >:D
