Title: bt 2700 hgv router
Post by: houseparty on Sep 20, 2007, 13:36:19
hi
ive been reading this forum a long time when i was Idnet, and i read with interest that some folks on here where having great results using a bt 2700 hgv router.

Well i brought a router on eBay which was brand new, it arrived today.
It all powers up etc, but when i enter my internet details i get ppp invalid error, which i was expecting, as i knew this router was locked too bt.

I have downloaded some details on how too unlock the router, but im not getting much luck.

I have downloaded the "using opera" too open your router if you have firmware" 5.20.107 x which is the firmware i have on my router.

i typed in 192.168.1.254 using opera and then clicked broadband link icon at the top of the page then clicked advanced settings.

i then clicked on view pull down on opera and selected source, i then typed in btbroadband and i saw all the bt broadband domain names.

in the example it says too change your domain from @btbroadband with the example of @myisp.net.

ive done that(im certainly with Zen internet but i have been with IDNET as well not too long ago) but it still says ppp invalid when i enter my username and password.

My login details on Zen are zenxxxxx@zen, so ive tried entering that in full, plus @Zen etc but no luck.

im hoping someone here can help, as i see a lot of folks have changed there router ok so its unlocked.

Is yours one of the newer routers, I myself have not got one but saw this message here http://www.the-scream.co.uk/forums/t22658.html Not sure if this applies to your model but thought I would ask also see here for more details http://bt2700hgv.tripod.com/ir1002700HGV.htm#Dual%20SSID%202700HGV

No problem, hope you get it sorted, when Rik or Lance are about maybe they will have some ideas or another member who has the same model and firmware, good luck  ;D

I use the older v4 firmware so the simple DNS trick was sufficient for me. This means I can't help on this one I'm afraid!

I'd have thought the same, tbh. Have you asked on ThinkBroadband, there are more users of the 2 Wire there, and some may well also be Zen customers.
